Sophia Besch is a research fellow (previously Clara Marina O'Donnell fellow) at the Centre for European Reform, where she works on foreign policy issues, with a focus on defence. Before joining the CER, she was a Carlo Schmid fellow at the Policy Planning Unit at NATO HQ and worked as a research assistant for the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Brussels.

Sophia is particularly interested in European defence, NATO, and German foreign policy. She studied politics and law at the University of Münster, and holds an MA in International Security from SciencesPo Paris and an MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics.
